Two points dropped, or one point gained?
Yesterday’s game was as many might had expected a challenging task for the reds. Even though coming into the game on a 4 game winning streak, we met a team in good form, who were determined to make it as difficult as possible.
Match summary
The first half was a tactical, cagey affair with very few clear-cut chances. Manchester United dominated possession but struggled to penetrate a compact West Ham defense. The Hammers finally broke the deadlock early in the second half, only for United to snatch a point in the dying moments of stoppage time.
Key Highlights
49′ – West Ham Goal (1-0): Shortly after the restart, Tomáš Souček opened the scoring. After some persistent work by Jarrod Bowen on the right flank, his low cross found Souček, who prodded it home from close range.
63′ – Disallowed Equalizer: United thought they had leveled when Casemiro headed home a Kobbie Mainoo cross, but a VAR review confirmed the Brazilian was marginally offside.
68′: Benjamin Šeško replaced Matheus Cunha (The game-changing sub).
68′: Leny Yoro replaced Harry Maguire (Hamstring injury).
82′: Joshua Zirkzee replaced Diogo Dalot (as United shifted to a more attacking shape).
90+6′ – United Equalizer (1-1): With the clock ticking down, substitute Benjamin Šeško proved to be the hero. He met a Bryan Mbeumo cross with a brilliant flicked finish into the top corner, silencing the home crowd in the 6th minute of added time.

Benjamin Šeško. The tall striker has scored 5 goals in his last 6 games. Of these 6 games he has only started 2 games. I get that Carrick wanted did not want to change a winning formula, but it has to change now. In a game where there is only one team going for the win, there are going to be crosses. With Bruno being below his usual average in terms of being able to be creative and penetrate the lines of West Ham, this game was set up to be a tough game for Mbuemo up top. The substitution of Šeško came too late to be able to make a real difference. Two points dropped in my book.
